“Got the full value from the course on the first day and it just got better from there.”
"I am delighted that the UDM concept has been embraced correctly, and am also pleased to see MDX making an appearance.
I really like the shift to explaining WHY we do things in addition to showing people HOW to do things, and also the enphasis on explaining the NEED before explaining the process"

This course is designed to teach administrators how to implement and manage SharePoint along with many features that may be required by the end users. It also covers important topics such as security and monitoring
- MANAGING SHAREPOINT 2010 DATABASES AND CONTENT STORAGE
SharePoint deployment is made possible via the storage capabilities afforded to it by the Microsoft data platform. Within the SharePoint 2010 framework architecture there are several SQL Server databases that need to be administered, as well as the rest of the application and business process framework. A means of storage is required for metadata, search data and also user data. In this workshop, we will explore each of the databases that facilitate this storage. It is not always the case that the storage will be facilitated within a local database. To this end we will look at additional storage and access features such as the Remote Blob Storage (RBS) and how the SharePoint platform exploits the FILESTREAM SQL Server data type provider to externalize these BLOBs. In addition we will cover best practices for the creation, maintenance, optimization and hardening of the data platform.
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE COURSES
- SQL SERVER 2008 END-TO-END BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
Business intelligence solutions provide the infrastructure that enables users at all levels of a business to make better decisions based on more accurate and up-to-date information. This workshop focuses on teaching IT professionals the best practices and skills required to successfully design, build, deploy, and operate a business intelligence solution using SQL Server 2008 Integration Services, Analysis Services and Reporting Services.
- DESIGNING AND DEVELOPING SOLUTIONS WITH SQL SERVER 2008 ANALYSIS SERVICES
In this workshop, you will learn to design, develop, and deploy an analytical solution using SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services (SSAS). This course demonstrates design and development best practices as you build a fully working analytical solution.
SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services (SSAS) enables IT Professionals to rapidly build and deploy powerful analytical solutions that enable business users to analyze business data and achieve competitive advantage. SSAS enables rapid application development, increases performance and functionality, and reduces the costs and complexity of operation. This course focuses on teaching IT professionals the skills and best practices required to design and develop a well performing and successful analytical solution using SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services.
- DEPLOYING, OPERATING, AND TUNING AN ANALYSIS SERVICES 2008 SOLUTION
In this workshop, you will learn to deploy, operate and tune an Analysis Services solution. You begin by learning how to prepare for the successful deployment of an Analysis Services solution. You will then learn to update data in a production environment while minimizing its impact on performance. Finally, you will learn to collect and analyze data to improve processing and querying performance.
- DIMENSIONAL MODELING
This one day dimensional modeling workshop focuses on the basic design patterns for building relational database structures for data mart or data warehouse applications on SQL Server.
The workshop begins with an overview of dimension modeling theory and builds on the justification of dimension modeling by reviewing the core structures involved in data marts and data warehouses: conformed dimension tables and fact tables. The workshop then applies these principles to implementation practices for SQL Server including storage and indexing best practices.
The workshop concludes with a review of meta data management for dimensional modeling including ETL batch and lineage tracking, auditing, and reporting.
- DESIGNING EFFECTIVE BI SYSTEMS
Building a great BI system is not just about being able to use the software; it’s also about getting the overall design right. This course is essentially vendor neutral; it specifically doesn’t cover how to drive any particular software. Instead it looks at the complete design process for a BI system, focusing on the architectural challenges and design issues that arise when building business intelligence solutions. For example it examines how we collect the user’s analytical requirements and convert them first into a logical model and then on to a star schema.
Dimensional modeling is examined in detail and compared and contrasted with relational modeling. This enables attendees, for example, to evaluate the pros and cons of the Inmon and Kimball models of warehouse design.
The course then looks at the challenges of data cleansing and effective ETL design. Finally it takes a look at how data mining can be used effectively.
- SQL SERVER 2005 & 2008 INTEGRATION SERVICES END-TO-END
During this 5-day instructor led training, you will learn the ins and outs of SSIS and how to apply its enterprise functionality to DBA data management and file handling operations as well as data warehouse ETL systems. At the completion of this course, you will understand how to design, develop, deploy, and operate SSIS solutions from source systems extractions, SSIS administration, data integration and transformation, and business intelligence system loading.
The volume and complexity of data is always increasing and data professionals need to know how to integrate, maintain, and process data for varying purposes. This workshop prepares the database professional with the skills needed for applying SQL Server 2005 & 2008 Integration Services (SSIS) to enterprise DBA and ETL tasks.
- ENTERPRISE ETL WITH SQL SERVER INTEGRATION SERVICES 2005 & 2008
During this 4-day instructor led training, you will learn the ins and outs of SSIS and how to apply its enterprise functionality to data warehouse ETL systems. At the completion this course, you will understand how to design, develop, deploy, and operate SSIS solutions from source systems extractions, to data integration and transformation, to business intelligence system loading including how to process SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes.
This course will demonstrate a fully working ETL solution, including extensive demos, sample projects that will not only teach how to use the new technology, but also illustrate business intelligence ETL and data warehouse best practices.
- SQL SERVER 2008 REPORTING SERVICES FOR DEVELOPERS
The course will cover the main extensibility points of SQL Server Reporting Services 2008: students will learn how to enhance and extend the product functionality by creating custom controls and developing data processing extensions. They will also learn how to supplement the security infrastructure using security extensions, develop new delivery and rendering options, as well as how to introduce more advanced techniques into the report design experience through custom and embedded .NET code. This course also covers interaction with the Report Server web service and how to integrate a reporting services experience directly into your custom business applications.
- MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT WITH SQL SERVER 2008 R2
The data is the key asset of a company. Companies want to gather information from the data; therefore, they start BI projects. However, most of BI projects have to deal with problems with data quality. Data quality can be a huge obstacle for a successful BI project. Of course, line of business applications suffer from poor data quality as well. Every company has part of the data which is used everywhere, in every transaction, like customers data, products data and similar. Such data is called master data. People who manage master data are often called data stewards. Processes and activities for maintaining master data are known as Master Data Management (MDM). In this seminar, we are going to discuss MDM problems and solutions and introduce Microsoft tools for MDM, including Master Data Services (MDS).
